Zhangjiajie is famous for its stunning sandstone pillars, which inspired the floating mountains in the movie Avatar. The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to some of the most spectacular natural scenery in China.
The best time to visit Zhangjiajie is during spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is mild and the landscape is at its most picturesque. Summer can be crowded, and winter can be cold, but the snow-covered mountains offer a different charm.
Most visitors spend 3 to 4 days in Zhangjiajie to explore the main attractions, including the national parks and Tianmen Mountain. If you plan to do extensive hiking or visit nearby areas, you might want to stay longer.
